In full disclosure, we were provided tickets in exchange for our honest review. The opinions expressed belong to Mommy University.

ALL ABOARD!

I was so excited to be invited to explore Northlandz in Flemington, NJ. This unique, interactive museum offers countless detailed train exhibits that will take your breath away. With over 100 trains chugging along 8 miles of track across a variety of landscapes, there is something for everyone to love.

“Mom, this is so awesome!” That’s what my son said over and over as we walked by each exhibit. With each step through the museum, the scenes became more and more intricate and interesting. We loved taking our time to observe all of the little details and watch the trains cross each bridge and go through each tunnel.

To add to the excitement, there were interactive stations throughout the museum. Guests can have fun making trains move, turning on lights, starting a thunderstorm, moving exhibit pieces, and more. Plus, Northlandz offers a fun scavenger hunt for kids which ends with a small prize. My boys really enjoyed looking for each item on the hunt.

Did you know? As you explore the various landscapes, make sure to stop and read the “Did You Know?” signs scattered along the exhibit. Each sign provides an interesting fact about trains and railways all over the world.

Speaking of did you know? Did you know that Northlandz covers 52,000 square feet and has over 400 bridges, over 200 tunnels, and 16 mountains?! It even has a 35 foot canyon. How awesome is that?! It took over 300,000 hours to make this magnificent museum.

Art is also a big part of this unique museum. As you walk along the museum path, you will have the chance to admire over 250 works of art as well as over 200 antique dolls. What I found the most interesting was the WW2 display that included uniforms, newspapers, and magazines.

Tip: The exhibit is long and requires walking for extended periods of time. We explored the museum with my parents so we made sure to stop and rest. There are benches and chairs scattered along the exhibit. Halfway through, there is a play area for little ones. This is a great spot to take a breather.
