It’s time to build, create, and play! We were recently invited to the Grand Opening of 5 exciting NEW Play Zones LEGOLAND Discovery Center at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ. We had so much fun exploring these new interactive spaces.
My boys have been building with LEGO bricks since their hands were big enough to hold them. From creating with the DUPLO bricks to making superhero headquarters and spaceships, my boys have developed a love and appreciation for LEGO creations. That’s why I was so excited to be invited to explore LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
From the moment we entered, we were in awe. We found exciting spaces around every corner. From displays of NYC landmarks to interactive building stations to a train ride to even a 4D show, there is something for everyone to enjoy. In this post, I want to highlight the 5 new play zones that opened June 29th!
5 NEW Play Zones at LEGOLAND Discovery Center
Creative Club
In this unique space, guests of all ages can create a LEGO masterpiece from start to finish. Step 1: Get Inspired. Relax on a comfy bean bag chair and dream up an incredible design. There are even books to help you expand upon your ideas. Step 2: Draw Your Design. Take a seat, grab paper and a pencil, and start drawing! Step 3: Create! Bring your ideas to life using a wide variety of LEGO bricks. You can then display your creation on the wall for all to see. Throughout the day, Playmakers will offer activities and classes as well.
DUPLO Park
This is a beautifully themed play area for little ones to explore, build, and learn. It offers bright colors, various textures, and interactive light-up stations to engage the senses. There is also a climbing structure with a slide. The space is enclosed and nestled in the back making it the perfect place for the youngest builders to use their creativity, build their fine motor skills, and foster their imagination.
Tree of Imagination
This is the focal point of the new space at LEGOLAND Discovery Center. This breathtaking floor to ceiling LEGO tree was created with spectacular detail and artistry. There is seating around the tree to allow you to admire its beauty as well as watch your children explore its wonder. What I love about this space is that it inspires imagination and creativity in children (and adults).
Build Adventures
This was my boys’ favorite space, and the one we spent most of our visit at. Throughout this zone are build stations filled with brightly colored LEGO bricks in a variety of shapes and sizes. There are also large bins filled with LEGO tires of varying sizes. Using these supplies, guests can build their own LEGO car and see how it does on three themed tracks.
We absolutely loved this new space as we each attempted to build the perfect car. None of our cars could survive the loop over lava, but my son and husband’s cars successfully jumped over the crocodile on the Jungle Jump. It was such a fun learning experience for all of us. While building, my kids enhanced their engineering, problem solving, fine motor, and spatial-reasoning skills.
Hero Zone
At this location, guests of all ages can test their skills in an awesome laser maze. The maze offers 4 levels: easy, medium, hard, and expert. While navigating the course, kids are improving their gross motor, spatial awareness, agility, and problem solving skills. Do you think you can beat the high score?
