MUST DO Experiences at the Summer Vibes Festival

Ride Medusa

Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure

If you were born and raised in NJ like I was, then I am sure you know all about Medusa! It was one of the greatest coasters of its time when it opened in 1999. In 2009 it was re-themed; however, it has recently returned to its former glory…actually it is even better with new colors and a new backstory! Medusa is 146 feet tall (over 14 stories) and has a max speed of 61 mph. It also has 7 inversions that include corkscrews, zero-G, a vertical loop, and more. This heart pounding coaster also takes riders through fire and mist. Plus, you can get an amazing view of the safari right before the big drop.

Take Lots of Pictures

Summer Vibes Photo Spot

The Summer Vibes Festival offers endless photo opportunities all across the park. There are even posts telling you the best spot to take the pictures and where to stand for the ultimate shot. The Under the Sun zone offers one of the most unique backdrops with a colorful canopy of umbrellas. Make sure to take a stroll through Whirly Way too. At first glance, it just looks like a colorful arch, but when you take closer look, you can see hundreds of pinwheels gracefully spinning in the wind. It’s mesmerizing to watch.

Another fun option for taking photos is at Showcase Vibes. This is an indoor, air-conditioned space that offers a nice break from the heat, sun, or rain. As you walk around the space, you will find whimsical, bright, and unique spaces to take pictures. The stage also offers a fun experience with bubbles that, when they pop, release smoke. This captured our attention for quite awhile. When you post your pictures on social media, make sure you use #SixFlagsSummerVibes.

Enjoy the Summer Yummers

Summer Vibes Food at Six Flags Great Adventure

As part of the Summer Vibes Festival, there are over 40 specialty food and drink options all throughout the park. My boys and I were recently given the opportunity to try many of the new dishes, and we loved them! Guests are definitely in for a treat this summer. Our favorites were the sesame teriyaki wings, Jersey fries (yes they have taylor ham on top), and sweet and sour chicken over rice. Other options include fried chicken mango habanero sandwich, Doritos buffalo chicken nachos, spicy guacamole cheddar burger, and jerk chicken fries. There are also amazing drink options for kids and adults. My boys loved the very berry lemonade, while I enjoyed the Summer Vibes spiked seltzer. Make sure to save room for dessert because you will want to try the pineapple upside down funnel cake.

Check Out the Entertainment

I know most people visit an amusement park for rides, but there is so much more to enjoy, like exciting entertainment. Six Flags Great Adventure has always offered wonderful shows and strolling entertainers and the Summer Vibes Festival is no exception. There is so much to see and enjoy as you walk around the park. From acrobats to musicians to even jump ropers, there is something for everyone. Our favorite experience, however, was the entertainer located in Whirly Way. He performed incredible tricks involving balancing objects on his face as well as performing acts on a unicycle. The best part of the experience, though, was when he took the time to teach my boys how to perform some of the tricks themselves.

Explore the Forgotten Garden

Summer Vibes Garden

In my opinion, this is the most interesting and unique zones of the Summer Vibes Festival. It does not have any food booths or entertainers but holds a lot of beauty and nostalgia. In this zone, Six Flags Great Adventure has transformed old ride cars into beautiful works of art. Adorned with gorgeous flowers, each car is a look into the past. My boys had fun guessing what ride each car could have gone to. Although there are no rides in this section, I highly recommend taking the time to walk through it and take some pictures.

The Summer Vibes Festival is included with our park admission so enjoy every vibrant, colorful, exciting minute of this event. To learn more and to purchase tickets, visit the Six Flags Great Adventure website.
