One of my favorite things about New Jersey is that there are so many opportunities for outdoor adventures, and this summer, most of them are FREE! You read that correctly! This summer over 50 amazing locations around NJ will be offering free admission. From High Point to Cape May, NJ is filled with incredible state parks, forests, and recreation areas.
Governor Murphy just announced that admission fees to all of New Jersey’s state parks, forests, and recreation centers will be waived all summer long. Anyone that has already purchased an annual pass will receive a refund. This is wonderful news for families all over NJ and beyond. State parks offer so many opportunities for kids to play, learn and grow. From hiking to swimming to boating to fishing, there is something for everyone in your family to enjoy.
Whether you arrive by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, or car, your admission will be FREE! That means you can enjoy a different adventure every day of the summer. There are over 452,000 acres to explore that include historic sites, hiking trails, beaches, and so much more. As someone who loves to get outdoors in the summer, I am beyond excited about this announcement. I love taking my boys to new parks and forests to go hiking.
There are over 50 places to choose from but here are some that I recommend you check out this summer:
- Allaire State Park
- Allamuchy Mountain State Park
- Cape May Point State Park
- Hacklebarney State Park
- High Point State Park
- Hopatcong State Park
- Liberty State Park
- Monmouth Battlefield State Park
- Round Valley Recreation Area
- Stokes State Forest
- Wawayanda State Park
It is important to note that some fees still apply such as camping, programs/events, and mobile sport fishing permits. Also, if you are going to cast your line at one of these locations, make sure you have a fishing license if you are 16 or older.
Which state park, forest, or recreation area are you most excited about visiting?
