Unique Halloween Experiences in NJ

Family fun by day, chills and thrills by night! That’s what everyone can enjoy when they explore NJ this fall. All across the state, families and friends can enjoy spooktacular adventures. There is so much to see and do that it’s impossible to list them all in this post so I decided to stick with the most UNIQUE events I could find. Know of another event? Jack-O-Lantern Experience

Jack o Lantern Experience

With over 6000 Jack-O-Lanterns to admire, this event at Skylands Stadium will be one you won’t want to miss. The Jack-O-Lantern Experience starts September 23 and runs through November 6. Admission price varies by date. After exploring the jack-o-lanterns, make sure to enjoy the rest of the fall festival. There will be carnival rides, pumpkin painting, games, seasonal beer, food and more!

Diggerfest

DiggerFest

This Halloween season, head to Diggerland for some spooktacular fun for all ages. In addition to riding on the Argos, getting dizzy on the Spindizzy, and scaling the rock wall, Diggerfest offers several activities that celebrate the season! Guests can enjoy hayrides, fall parades, pumpkin decorating, live music, carnival games, and more. Diggerfest takes place every weekend September 24 – October 30.

Kids Boo Fest and Fright Fest

Six Flags Fright Fest

Enjoy fun by day and thrills by night at Six Flags Great Adventure this fall! During the day, kids (and kids at heart) can enjoy Boo Fest with activities such as trick or treating, a dance party, hay bale maze, yummy treats, and much more. At 6pm, the thrills and chills begin! With 5 scare zones, 6 shows, and 6 haunted houses, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Boo Fest, scare zones, and entertainment are included with admission; however, the haunted houses are an additional fee.

Haunted Hayrides

There are so many spooktacular haunted hayrides in NJ that I couldn’t choose just one to highlight! Farms all across the Garden State turn into scare zones not for the faint at heart. Wild West Fest

Wild West City

Step back in time this Halloween season for nonstop spooktacular fun at Wild West City! Haunted Wild West Fest takes place every weekend in October with family friendly thrills during the day and spine tingling chills at night. This fall, Wild West City adds to its already amazing lineup of entertainment as it turns into a ghost town filled with excitement, intrigue, and terror! Read more about it here:

Streamline Haunted Car Wash

This has to be the most unique Halloween experience on this list. Located in Rockaway, Streamline Car Wash is offering a haunted car wash every Friday and Saturday night in October 7pm-10:30pm. No reservations are required. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

Flashlight Corn Maze

One of the coolest experiences I have done with my boys in the fall is a flashlight corn maze! We were equipped with just a flashlight and a map and had to find our way through the maze. It was so much fun! Throughout NJ, there are several farms that offer this unique experience. Check out the post below for a list of flashlight corn mazes your family can enjoy this fall.

Halloween Light Show

If you are looking for a unique Halloween experience, then head to Demarest Farms in Hillsdale for their Halloween Light Show. Guests can drive through 32 acres of spectacular Halloween themed light displays. After the experience, make sure to stay for a bit. You can warm up by the fire while trying some delicious farm treats. Visit their website for times and prices.

A Stranger Things Halloween Light Show

Another unique Halloween Light Show in NJ is located in Brick. With over 100,000 synchronized LED lights choreographed to some of your favorite songs from the hit show Stranger Things, this is a MUST DO experience this fall. Sterling Hill Haunted Mine

Sterling Hill Mine

This unique Halloween experience only happens one weekend in October so make sure you don’t miss it! We did it last year and everyone loved it! Guests get a spooky tour of the old Sterling Hill Mine and you never know what might be lurking around each twist and turn. The event is run by the Ogdensburg School and takes place October 21 and 22. 

Halloween House

Head to the Rockaway Townsquare this fall for a one of kind experience! Halloween House is an immersive indoor attraction that does not have any jump scares or actors. It is just filled with decorated themed rooms such as Stranger Things, Trick or Treat, and Glow in the Dark. This is the perfect experience for those that don’t like to be scared and LOVE to take pictures. This event is for all ages and is open daily. Visit their website for times and pricing.

Goosebumps

Goosebumps The Musical

I am beyond excited that the Growing Stage the Children’s Theatre of NJ will be offering a stage production of one of our favorite book series. Goosebumps The Musical – Phantom of the Auditorium will run October 14-30. This is the perfect show for the entire family. Learn more and get tickets on the Growing Stage website

Mount Tabor Ghost Walk

Based on true events, the Mount Tabor Ghost Walk is a one of a kind experience. Presented by the Mt. Tabor ARTs Collaborative, this 40 minute ghost tour takes guests around this spooky town and explains its creepy history. You never know what will be lurking around each corner.
