Affordable family fun at Regal Cinemas This Summer!

The aroma of buttered popcorn fills the air when you enter the doors of a theater, and the quest begins to find the perfect seat. This summer the Regal Cinemas will be offering affordable family movies at a cost of $1. Granted these are not brand new movies, but let’s be honest, there is something magical about watching movies on the big screen whether they were released last November or two years ago.

Regal Cinemas has been offering the Summer Movie Express program for over 25 years. In fact, it is not only available in New Jersey but in over 300 locations throughout the United States over the 14 week time period. It is important to note that each theatre’s movie dates will vary as well as the movie schedules. Below is a sample schedule so please contact your local theatre for the movies playing near you!

Benefits of Summer Movies

Encourages Appropriate Social Behavior

This is a wonderful opportunity for children to practice appropriate social behavior. This will vary based on the age of the child. Two years ago, we brought my children who were just learning to sit through movies, and now we have no problem bringing them to movie theatre for new movies. Not only do kids learn to sit quietly, they also learn about personal space and not hitting the seat in front of them.

Promotes Conversation

This year, the Summer Movie Express will be playing the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs which is a movie my family loves. I know this is a movie that will generate different levels of conversation based on the children’s age.

Family Bonding

Regal Cinemas plays movies that have been released a year ago to a few years ago. Some of us were raised watching these movies, and thus we now have the opportunity to watch a movie we love with our kids in the movie theater. It is a wonderful way to bond with our children and share with them movies we cherished when we were young.

This summer the movies at Regal Cinemas are played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 am! It is important to note that tickets are first come, first serve and it is recommended to arrive early. There will be two movies available each week.
