Step back in time this Halloween season for nonstop spooktacular fun at Wild West City! Haunted Wild West Fest takes place every weekend in October with family friendly thrills during the day and spine tingling chills at night. This fall, Wild West City adds to its already amazing lineup of entertainment as it turns into a ghost town filled with excitement, intrigue, and terror!
Wild West Fest: Daytime Fun
Wild West Fest is open every Saturday and Sunday in October 10am-4:30pm. The town is adorned with creepy, crawly decorations that add to the Halloween fun. All day, guests can enjoy live action and interactive shows. Live demonstrations by period craftsmen will also be available. Make sure your little one comes dressed up because there will be a costume contest with great prizes too.
Want more fun and adventure? The Wild West City museums are all open to explore along with the barnyard, pony rides, and train rides. Also available during the day is panning for gold which is included with admission. During the day, guests can also ride the stagecoach for an additional fee.
Wild West Fest: Night Time Chills
When the sun goes down, the creatures come out to play! Wild West Fest is open Friday and Saturday nights 6:30pm-10pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance and an arrival time must be chosen at the time of purchase. Each ticket includes a haunted train ride and walking trail that is not for the faint of heart. Watch where you’re walking because you never know what or who will sneak up on you.
Before and/or after riding the train (if you dare), make sure to explore the ghost town. I have been to Wild West City many times but walking around at night was the coolest experience we have had so far. It’s dark and creepy with small flickers of light. Stay alert because anyone or anything can jump out at you at any moment. The museums are also open for exploring so make sure to check them out. I especially recommend visiting the jail.
Hungry? The Golden Nugget Saloon will be open for food and drinks. The bar features unique Halloween themed cocktails as well. Right outside the Saloon guests can have their cards read which was one of the highlights of the night for the kids. This activity is included with admission but tips are appreciated.
I honestly did not know what to expect when we decided to visit Wild West Fest. I knew it would be fun but I had no idea there would be so many jump scares. The staff did an amazing job staying in character and engaging all of the guests, especially the kids. It felt like a truly personalized experience.
Tips for Visiting Wild West Fest:
- Wear sneakers! There is a good amount of walking and the road is all dirt.
- Be prepared for anything! Ghouls, ghosts, and creatures will jump out from all over so be alert.
- Flashlights are not allowed. Although you may feel the need to light your way, it is not allowed on the haunted train or trail.
- Daytime is for all ages.
- Night time is recommended for ages 12 and up but all ages are welcome. Parents use your discretion.
