B kids Play with Me Laptop Review

In full disclosure, B kids provided us with the Play with Me Laptop at no cost in exchange for an honest review.

Infants and toddlers are attracted to music, lights and anything that resembles what their parents use. When a toy offers various educational benefits, it becomes a toy that interests Mommy University. The B kids Play with Me Laptop has not hit shelves at the toy stores, but I had the privilege of reviewing this new toy designed for children 6 – 36 months. I loved watching my daughter interact with it (and my preschooler son also attempt to borrow it).

I am very impressed with the size of the Play with Me Laptop. It is compact and petite. It can fit in my diaper bag or tote bag which means that it is a convenient toy to include in day trips or excursions. Since it is lightweight, I have found my daughter carrying it around the house and to and from the car for trips.

The design of the Play with Me Laptop is simple and straightforward. While it resembles a laptop, the Play with Me interacts with the child through verbal prompts and facial expressions. On the screen is the appearance of a smiling face which keeps the infant or toddler engaged and maintains their interest. It has several features including: tunes, prompts and buttons which helps children learn shapes, colors and letters.

Pressing the same button has different responses which my daughter really enjoyed hearing.

Here are some of the educational benefits I observed as my children played with the Play With Me Laptop:

Boosts Hand-Eye Coordination

For little hands, it is always a struggle to perfect a grasp, touch or tap. The Play with Me Laptop engages the child and encourages them to tap on specific buttons as well use the mouse (which responds with an adorable giggle).

Increases Academic Knowledge

Several buttons on the Play with Me Laptop contain letters as well as words that began with those letters. As your child taps on the button, it will answer with several possible responses such as the letter, the word or the color and the word. The rotation of responses keeps a child returning to press the button but also introduces the concept of cause and effect. It also exposes them to various simple academic concepts. I was so happy when I overheard my daughter repeating some of the prompts!

Enhances Social Interaction Skills

While there is no replacement for genuine human interaction, I liked the Play with Me Laptop design of having a smiling face on the screen. When we first opened the package, my daughter carried it away and sat down with it. The smiling face and blinking eyes kept her engaged. Kids want and love to see smiling faces. A few minutes later, I overheard her say “cheese” in response to Play with Me Laptop telling her it was taking her picture.

Encourages Speech Development

Since the B kids Play with Me Laptop engages the child in fun ways, I have heard my daughter’s speech developing. It surprised me that she would respond to the computer verbally; however, each time she pulls out the laptop I hear new phrases and responses. The little tunes it plays are sweet and rotate enough that I am not growing tired of listening to them. More importantly, she enjoys listening to them which is another factor that encourages speech.

The B kids Play with Me Laptop is a compact and adorable toy that is great for everyday use and/or traveling with your kids. It is fun and engaging which helps kids develop their speech, academic knowledge and hand-eye coordination. The cute facial expressions will make them smile and responsive which is exactly what you want when they are introduced to new academic concepts. This allows for greater attention thus greater retention.
