Did you know that this year’s summer reading program is all about SCIENCE?
Libraries across NJ are getting kids of all ages excited about Science and Reading! Children, teens and adults are encouraged to read all summer long while also participating in fun and interactive Science programs/events at their local libraries.
The early literacy and children’s slogan is “Fizz, Boom, Read!” Children as young as 6 months old are joining in the fun. Parents are encouraged to read to their children every day and keep a log of the books read. Children of reading age, can read their own books and keep their own personal log as well. Families can also enjoy tons of interactive, educational and exciting science based programs. Check with your local library for their logging and reward systems as well as a schedule of events!
The teen slogan is “Spark a Reaction.” Teens are also encouraged to read daily and log their success. A wide variety of science based activities are available each week for teens to engage in. Rewards are also available at your local library.
The adult slogan is “Literary Elements.” Parents, you are your child’s greatest role model. When they see you read, it creates an interest and encourages them to read themselves. Reading also gives parents time to relax and recharge their parenting battery.
Throughout the summer, families can enjoy an abundance of science based activities, programs and events at their local library. Some events include:
- Story Time
- Animal and Reptile Shows
- Science Experiments
- Science Shows and Demonstrations
- Sci-Fi Movies
- Magic Shows
- Astronomy Programs
- Science Crafts
- Bubble Shows
- And Much More!
So head out to your local library and sign your kids up today! As said by Dr. Sueuss:
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
