The Summer Brain Gain Play Smart Books Giveaway

In full disclosure, we were provided this item in exchange for our honest review. The opinions expressed belong to Mommy University.

After reviewing Gakken Play Smart books last year, I requested more of them. Often times, my daughter would pull them out independently and happily work on them. For me, this was a win-win. While her fine motor skills are still developing, it is beneficial for her to have a workbook to dabble in during the summer months without pressure to learn material. This is why I think Play Smart is incredibly successful in our home.

I was thrilled to learn they expanded their series with the new Picture Puzzlers books. For each age range (2, 3 and 4 years old), there are two Picture Puzzlers. They bring children more activities that invite them to think critically about differences in images, solving puzzles, drawing mirror images, cutting paper and writing! We are happy to include in our summer brain gain project.

Play Smart Books Giveaway

Offers Challenging Activities

Each page of the book is different offering young children unique challenges. From page to page, the tasks change as do the supplies. On one page you may need scissors or a pencil or a crayon. She doesn’t have the repetition of the same activities so she is always curious what the next page brings. This summer we are incorporating the NEW Play Smart Picture Puzzlersbooks that bring fun and engaging activities.

Encourages Parental Involvement

Gakken encourages parents to become actively involved as children are completing the pages. When parents are engaged with this activity at age 2 or 4, it reinforces to young children that learning is fun and supported. The instructions are brief and offer parents suggestions of how to involve children and promote critical thinking skills at a young age.

Promoting Independence

My daughter’s favorite part of completing a page is placing a small sticker on the right hand corner to indicate she finished her tasks. While this seems simple, for small children it is a moment of pride. The reward encourages them to complete the entire book which is why my daughter keeps returning to work on the books!

Here is a video previewing the Picture Puzzlersbooks as well as some words from her on why she enjoys them!
